I could not stay with her all night, but I felt at ease leaving her in his capable hands.
My sister had a heart catheterization today, and the doctor placed a stent in her left leg. She was on her back from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. When she was brought from the Cardiac PACU to her room, Jay was waiting for her. He introduced himself to us and tried to explain everything that was and would be happening this afternoon. He gave her something to drink and went immediately and brought her a cold tray without me having to ask for it. She had ice in her pitcher before she got to her room. He ensured her urinary device was properly in place and connected to suction. He came back frequently to monitor her groin site and vital signs. He made sure she was given a dinner tray, and when she was in pain, got her pain medication from the doctor and tried to position her so it gave her back some relief, but didn't endanger her groin site and make her bleed. She can be very demanding and gets angry and frustrated easily when she has had any type of antithesis. She has had several of these heart caths here and has never had such great care as Jay on the day shift gave her. Usually, she has a terrible experience! I could not stay with her all night, but I felt at ease leaving her in his capable hands. Jay is a great asset to this hospital and organization!
