He acted with moral courage and accountability, stepping forward simply because it was the right thing to do.
As the Nursing House Supervisor at Loma Linda University Medical Center, I am honored to nominate Jason Crothers for the DAISY Award in recognition of his extraordinary compassion, service, and commitment to our mission.

During a period of exceptionally high volume and acuity in our Emergency Department, Jason arrived as a family member supporting a loved one in the ED. From this perspective, he observed the department's intensity and the significant needs of both patients and staff. Despite the emotional challenge of his loved one requiring care, he recognized the team's strain and the urgency of the situation.

Demonstrating profound selflessness, Jason approached leadership to request a pair of scrubs so he could assist. He then worked alongside the ED team, delivering safe, compassionate, and professional nursing care during one of our busiest periods. This voluntary action was not expected of him, but reflected his unwavering commitment to nursing excellence, humility, and the mission of LLUMC.

His actions exemplify LLUMC’s core values:

Compassion: Despite being personally affected, he prioritized patients' and colleagues' needs, demonstrating empathy as a nurse and as a human being.
Integrity: He acted with moral courage and accountability, stepping forward simply because it was the right thing to do.

Excellence: He provided high-quality nursing care under pressure, maintaining professionalism and clinical excellence throughout challenging circumstances.
Teamwork: By joining the ED team during a critical time, he strengthened collaboration and reminded us that we are never alone in our work.

Wholeness: His actions reflected care for patients, families, staff, and the healing environment, embodying our commitment to healing body, mind, and spirit.

Jason Crothers reminded everyone present that nursing is not merely a profession, but a calling. His willingness to serve, even while concerned for his loved one, stands as a powerful testament to the spirit of LLUMC and the essence of the DAISY Award.

With deep respect and gratitude, I nominate Jason Crothers for this well-deserved recognition and for stepping into action when it was most needed.
