When my doctor told me I was complete but had to do the hands and knees position for 30 minutes before pushing, Jasmine knelt on the floor and held the fetal heart monitor on my stomach every minute since it kept moving off the baby.
I went in for the induction of my firstborn child. After 31 hours of labor, Jasmine took over as my night nurse and was with me through the delivery. When she got on shift, I was extremely discouraged in my progression and was both emotionally and physically exhausted. Earlier in the day, I had a few scary moments of the baby's heart rate dropping. Because of this, I had gotten no rest for about 24-30 hours. Jasmine came in to introduce herself, and we were instantly put at ease by her presence and support. I got checked by my doctor at 7 pm and was still at 6 cm dilated and had been for the past 6-8 hours. I instantly confided in her about my mental and physical state, explaining that if I were still at 6 cm 3 hours later, I would likely elect for a c-section. She heard me and soothed me, telling me that it's absolutely my decision, but would help in any way she could to get me the birth I desired.

Over the next 10 hours, she would come in every 40 minutes to reposition me, ensuring I was comfortable and could rest. My husband was also stressed and asked Jasmine many questions throughout the night. She patiently answered his questions and explained how to read the fetal monitoring strip to keep him at ease. I must say, she is the positioning queen in labor and had the most calming presence all night. Under her guidance, I was able to get some rest and woke up in much better spirits. My husband heard me talk after a few hours of repositioning and sleep, instantly knowing I felt better about the birth. When my doctor told me I was complete but had to do the hands and knees position for 30 minutes before pushing, Jasmine knelt on the floor and held the fetal heart monitor on my stomach every minute since it kept moving off the baby. She was my nurse for pushing as well, held my leg, and provided different positional options every few contractions.

Jasmine was my biggest cheerleader during the final few pushes to get the baby out. During the first two hours after birth, she brought me a lovely drink and snacks since I hadn't been able to eat much with the epidural. She assisted me to the bathroom and was beyond comforting while she showed me how to care for myself during recovery. I cannot recommend Jasmine enough for the DAISY Award for her constant care and support in giving me the labor I always envisioned. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
