Despite being early in his nursing career, I have been told and witnessed several scenarios where Jared has gone above and beyond to provide compassionate care to both patients and their families on 6 South. On one occasion, while a patient was undergoing an NG tube insertion, Jared noticed that the patient’s wife was upset. He took the time to walk her out of the room, brought her to the vending machine for a snack, and offered her words of reassurance.

In another instance, Jared had a paraplegic patient who was nervous about an upcoming surgery. Jared personally got the patient in a wheelchair and took them outside for fresh air. These actions are particularly remarkable given the demands of being a new graduate nurse. While these things are simple to some, they made an impact on the patient and their families and deserve recognition.
