She related to me as a human and as a mother. That in itself made our time in the PICU a little less scary.
Ja'Nette is perceptive and understanding, and she is compassionate and kind. She knows exactly when to step in and when to let the other RNs lead, as a true leader does.
The thing that set her apart from the others was a simple task, an IV. We have met Jae before our stay this time, in another admittance, and she has been consistent since day one. This time, my son, who is on the Autism spectrum, needed a blood draw. He had a line placed that wouldn't draw blood, so a blood draw was attempted in another location. This agitated him. As a former medic, I had suggested a little trick to get the blood to draw without sticking him again. Jae heard me and asked if she could try. She got it easily, where I had watched others struggle. It meant the world to me that she heard me and attempted to do so without being invasive.
She has leadership energy. She is bright and smiley, in a place that isn't ideal. I watched her lead by example, stepping in when needed and not making it above her to help with even the smallest of issues. She made our emergency situation more comfortable than it could have been. She related to me as a human and as a mother. That in itself made our time in the PICU a little less scary.
Thank you, Jae. I hate seeing you because that means we are at the hospital, but I know when you are on shift, we will be taken good care of. Thank you for making that difference!
