Dr Janet Sipple is an expert in Community Nursing. She has provided guidance and support to junior faculty in order to develop their abilities in teaching, scholarship, leadership, and community engagement. Her pearls of wisdom are provided at times when she sees those around her are struggling and feel defeated. As a junior faculty member, I know that if Janet suggests (with her southern charm) what I perceive to be more work and what she presents as an excellent “developmental” opportunity, than it is in my best interest to take advantage of that offering. I am always impressed with the educational opportunities that she provides for students. She has an amazing ability to develop meaningful partnerships and relationships within the community that allows the students to engage in a beneficial service learning opportunity. It is very comforting knowing that Janet is a colleague that makes herself available to offer words of advice, encouragement, and opportunity within our personal and professional lives. Most importantly, Janet has served as the department cheerleader and is always willing to coordinate milestone celebrations. She has taught many of us how to take time to applaud and celebrate our achievements. Dr Janet Sipple is an outstanding educator that exemplifies honor, professionalism, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to local and global academic excellence.
