After my father passed, Janet stood with me, side by side, and cried with me.
My husband has worked in Emergency Care for most of his life, and I know firsthand how demanding the healthcare field is. In a world where all around us, people in general have lost compassion, they truly do not care. There are no “Thanks-you’s”, no appreciation. That is why I am reaching out today, because I want the hospital to know, I want your leadership to know about my experience with Nurse Janet Kittrell. It was beyond outstanding, and I will never forget her.
Janet went above and beyond to care for my father. My father was on palliative care, end of life, and we knew his time was soon. Although I knew we were close to the end, you are never truly prepared for it, and I still had important decisions to make. Towards the end, my father was not resting well, and I asked Janet if there was anything that could be done to help relax him. Janet went to the provider, advocated for my father, and was able to obtain medication from the provider that did help him relax; it eased him, for at least the last 30 minutes that he was with us.
After my father passed, Janet stood with me, side by side, and cried with me. I was not alone. Although I knew she had other patients/family to care for, she made me feel like my father and I were the only patient/family she was looking after. There are no words to even begin to thank her. I will never forget the outstanding care Janet provided the entire time she was caring for my father, how she helped provide my father peace in his final moments, right until my father took his last breath. She showed true empathy and compassion for me by staying by my side after my father passed.
