Like a conductor ensuring harmony, perfection, and excellence, she produced a seemingly effortless show.
My lab results initiated further medical action. I had visited the ER the previous night due to pain. My name was flagged for monitoring, and I was held for further work on my kidneys, with daily ultrasounds ordered. After a difficult night, I met my nurses, who seemed overly eager to attend to my every need.
One nurse, Janeen, with the help of an "army of nurses," went above and beyond. All I wanted was to go home. This compassionate nurse made the "army of nurses" aware of my veteran status, which became a focal point for everyone, including the chaplain, who prayed with me and took my testimony.
She later returned with my nurse and presented me with a gift, which brought me to tears. While searching for help, I briefly spoke with a hospital operator, who was curious about my story. My story even reached the kitchen after I discussed my dietary preferences with the dietitian. Later, my dinner arrived, creatively prepared based on our earlier conversation.
I called the kitchen to thank them, and they expressed pride in the recognition. During this time, my nurse brought me coffee after I mentioned my fondness for it. While many dedicated nurses were involved, I would like to recognize Janeen B. She is a coordinator, delegator, provider, and timely juggler who kept me calm and completed her rounds, distracting me and keeping me informed of my patient duties.
Like a conductor ensuring harmony, perfection, and excellence, she produced a seemingly effortless show. No single nurse can be singled out without acknowledging the equally dedicated and caring supporting cast. However, I nominate Janeen B. as a credit to herself, this facility, and the nursing profession. Though I didn't go home that day, the experience is one I won't soon forget.
