I will never forget her kindness, her strength, or the way she made me feel seen and cared for
Jamie was nominated by two patients. Here are their stories:
Patient Story #1:
When I was hospitalized with COVID over the Easter weekend, I was at one of the most vulnerable and overwhelming points in my life. I couldn’t walk. I felt weak, disoriented, and completely alone. With it being a holiday, none of my friends were available, and I didn’t have the energy or clarity to advocate for myself.
Then, on Easter Sunday morning, Jamie Lee walked into my room and gently woke me --- and from the very first moment, I felt like I was hearing the voice of a dear friend. Her presence was soothing and deeply familiar. It was as though we had known each other in another life. That’s how safe, supported, and emotionally understood I felt in her care.
Jamie didn’t just take care of my physical health --- though she did that with skill, grace, and unwavering attention --- she took care of my emotional well-being, which, at that moment, was even more important.
She helped me feel human again. She took charge in the most thoughtful way, organizing and coordinating a flood of information from the social worker, discharge planner, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and doctors --- all of which would have been too much for me to handle on my own. She shielded me from the chaos and made everything manageable.
Before I was discharged, she made sure I could return home feeling clean, comfortable, and like myself again. She went out of her way to find a chair so I could sit safely in the shower and coordinated with an aide to help me. That kind of attention to dignity and detail meant more to me than words can say.
Jamie Lee is not only an exceptional nurse --- she is a truly extraordinary human being. She brought light and peace to a dark and frightening time.

Jamie was so very attentive and caring. When I was in pain, she managed it quickly and ensured my comfort, not just with medication, but also with heat packs, pillows, and being so kind.
She checked in often and kept me up to date on my care. Largely because of Jamie, an anxious time in life became an overall pleasant hospital stay. She is very deserving of this award.
