My name is G, and I am the wife of W, who was admitted to the hospital. During his initial stay, we had the pleasure of being cared for by Jamesha M., RN, several times. She consistently stood out as a bright light in what has been a very difficult and emotional journey for both of us. I especially want to recognize her care. Not only did she ensure that W received his important Q2 turns and thorough care throughout the shift, but she also saw beyond the tasks. She recognized our emotional and spiritual needs at a time when we were struggling to cope with the uncertainty of his condition. Without us having to ask, she initiated chaplain services for both W and me. That thoughtful act brought comfort, peace, and a renewed sense of hope that we desperately needed. Jamesha showed compassion, genuine concern, and attentiveness that made such a meaningful difference in our experience. She talked to us, encouraged us, and made sure we never felt alone. I am so grateful that she was a part of W's care team. Her empathy and advocacy gave us strength and helped us see a more positive outlook in a very challenging time. For all of these reasons, and for the way she cares with her whole heart, I want to nominate Jamesha M., RN, for the DAISY Award. She is truly a nurse who goes above and beyond.
