This letter is to express the outstanding care and kindness displayed by one of the PCU nurses, Jenn Patel.
There was a patient who was from a different culture and did not speak any English. He has expressed to Jenn not eating for approximately two weeks due to the difference in his cultural diet and our hospital diet. Jenn brought food in the next morning that met his wants and needs, and he ate all of it. She not only brought food for that day, but she called her sisters and they coordinated each one of them bringing a meal to be delivered through the ER to him each day of his stay here at Lourdes.
Malnourishment was a big part of his health condition. I am so proud to be on the same team as a nurse like Jenn who shows such care and compassion for a patient that she not only extended her own helping hand but also reached out to her sisters for the times she was not able to bring a meal to him and they then brought meals to him. She wrote out all the post-it notes in his language and English to help him understand the staff.
On behalf of the PCU team, we are proud to have Jenn on our team as a nurse and friend.
