In many ways, she was exactly the support we needed during one of the most tragic and overwhelming moments of our lives.
Although Jamiie was not officially assigned as his nurse during our stay, her presence became one of the most meaningful parts of our experience. In many ways, she was exactly the support we needed during one of the most tragic and overwhelming moments of our lives.

He was admitted from NCCU, and when we arrived on the floor, everything felt heavy: fear, uncertainty, exhaustion, and the reality that our lives had suddenly changed. Hospitals can feel cold and intimidating, especially when you are facing something as life-altering as a stroke. Jaimie was the first friendly face we saw upon arrival, and that moment alone made a profound difference. Before any words were spoken, her demeanor conveyed warmth, reassurance, and calm. In a space filled with alarms, unfamiliar routines, and anxiety, she immediately brought a sense of grounding and humanity.

What sets Jaimie apart is her belief that care does not stop with assignments. She does not operate with the mindset that only her designated patients deserve her attention. Instead, she embodies the true spirit of nursing and caring for people. She engaged with multiple families on the unit, checking in, offering support, answering questions, and simply being present. That level of awareness and compassion cannot be taught; it comes from a genuine commitment to others.

Jaimie made me feel as though I was at home, speaking with a close girlfriend, someone who truly understood, someone who listened without judgment, and someone who knew exactly when to offer encouragement, information, or simply a moment of comfort. In the middle of chaos and fear, she created space for connection. That sense of familiarity and trust was invaluable. She did not rush conversations or treat interactions as transactional. She took the time to engage in a way that made me feel seen, heard, and supported.

Jaimie demonstrated an expert-level understanding of patient care, hospital processes, and clinical realities, yet she communicated that knowledge in a way that was accessible and reassuring. She had the rare ability to translate complex medical situations into clear, understandable explanations without ever speaking down or overwhelming us.

Jamie, thank you sincerely.
