She made sure I was okay and helped me feel less alone during one of the hardest times of my life. I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten through it without her.
I’m nominating Jaecee because she has been nothing short of amazing. My mom has Huntington’s disease, and as anyone who’s dealt with it knows, it’s incredibly tough. It affects not only the person who has it, but also their family. Jaecee went above and beyond for my mom and for me in every possible way. She made sure my mom was always comfortable and truly cared for. Honestly, she took better care of her than any nurse we’ve had before. She treated her with so much kindness and respect, even when my mom’s cognition wasn’t there. Jaecee never talked down to her. She spoke to her like a real person, with warmth and dignity. That meant so much to me.
What also stood out was how much Jaecee paid attention to the little things. She was always on top of my mom’s care and made sure nothing got overlooked. She took the time to talk with me when I had questions or concerns and helped me make sense of what we were seeing. She helped me understand what kinds of symptoms are sometimes seen with Huntington’s and when it might be important to check in with the doctors. No one else had ever taken the time to walk through that with me before. And beyond all of that, Jaecee constantly checked in on me. She made sure I was okay and helped me feel less alone during one of the hardest times of my life. I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten through it without her. Jaecee is the kind of nurse every patient and family hopes for. She is not just skilled and professional, but also genuinely compassionate. She will always hold a special place in my heart, and I truly believe she deserves this award.
