Jackie had this patient the last 2 nights before she passed away. The family was impressed with Jackie’s knowledge, hard work, informing the family of events occurring, and just her concern and compassion towards B’s family. The Aunt recounted the emotional connection they felt as Jackie worked so hard to keep Brianna alive and the realization that Brianna was not doing well. They remember Jackie hugging them - mother and Aunt with tears in her eyes - and the connection Jackie had with the family. It meant so much to them that their nurse, Jackie, felt the same sorrow they too were experiencing. The mother stated she did not know such kind people still existed in this world. Jackie’s presence was so calming and empathetic. They wanted Jackie to know how grateful they are to have had her as B's nurse. The one thing that the family will always remember is the family standing in B’s room, hugging Jackie - at that moment, they realized that B was not going to survive her illness. It was overwhelming that someone would have so much empathy for someone and their loved ones, for someone she had just met. There was a sense of comfort in knowing they were with someone who had a true sense of humankindness!
