Jacqueline created a picnic on the patient’s bed. They both had tons of presents to give each other. It was the most perfect visit ever.
What is an angelic person? The dictionary says having the qualities of an angel, being beautiful, pure, and kind. Jacqueline is the essence of a true earth angel in our unit. She is an inspiring leader, with a mission to bring Palliative awareness to our staff. Her Vision is to bring relief to suffering through compassion and comfort and by providing resources.

Jacqueline spearheaded the formation of the Palliative Measure Committee. Now three years in, we have a well-formed Palliative Measure Committee that has met all of its goals.

During the Covid surge, we RNs felt very supported. Jacqueline wanted to ensure our Santa Monica ICU Covid Colleagues felt supported too. She created the “Hearts over Wilshire Project." where all of us RNs wrote messages of love and encouragement on heart-shaped paper. She had the two hospitals on poster board a few feet apart with a rainbow of heart messages connecting them. It was spectacular.

A patient was paralyzed for two months from a rare autoimmune disease process that doctors can't cure. The patient could not move, had a tracheotomy, and was very anxious. Jacqueline got J for a palliative consult, and also got spiritual care and Child Life involved. Jacqueline planned a visit from the patient’s five-year-old daughter, placed a welcome sign on the door for her, decorated the room with lights, and arranged coverage so she could have 4 hours just for them. Jacqueline created a picnic on the patient’s bed. They both had tons of presents to give each other. It was the most perfect visit ever. Her daughter hugged Jacqueline and took pictures together, it was magical!

This is only one of many examples of why Jacqueline (An Earth Angel) is a DAISY Nurse. She truly inspired me as a leader.
