Upon noticing that the room was going to be very tight, Jacqueline went out of her way to create space for me, especially since I was planning to stay overnight.
I believe that nurses are the face of the hospital, providing the first impression of quality service and compassion. As soon as I walked into the unit with my father, the patient, Jacqueline's warm smile radiated warmth. She introduced herself to us and immediately arranged the room to ensure that my father and I would be comfortable. Upon noticing that the room was going to be very tight, Jacqueline went out of her way to create space for me, especially since I was planning to stay overnight. She even wiped down the recliner chair that I was supposed to use.
My dad has bowel and urinary incontinence, so he had to call for help numerous times during the night. She came promptly, and I felt that wherever she went, she did so with a positive attitude and without any complaints. That put patients and families at ease. When I had a question, she took the time to explain things thoroughly. She was also attentive to our every need. Even after her shift was done, I noticed that she was helping other team members. Despite her tiredness after a long shift, she still maintained a smile and performed acts of kindness. Jacqueline and staff make or break a patient’s experience. They can easily instill discomfort or fear in them. Through this nurse’s small gestures from the beginning to the end, she showed professionalism and compassion. My family is grateful for the “comfortable stay” we had in the hospital. Thank you very much, Jacqueline!
