Working under Jackie, I feel appreciated, supported, and informed, and I honestly love being a part of her team. She truly goes above and beyond!
I would like to nominate Jackie Andrews for the DAISY Award for her strong leadership and dedication to both patients and staff at Oneida Hospital.
I have worked with Jackie for many years. I started as a bedside nurse with Jackie as my charge nurse, I made my way to the charge position, with Jackie as my supervisor, and now I proudly say that I am the coordinator with Jackie as my nurse manager.
Jackie manages both the Medical-Surgical unit and the Endoscopy unit, which is a big responsibility. She does this every day with organization, calmness, and a focus on making sure patients receive safe, high-quality care. She supports her teams and makes sure both departments run smoothly.
Jackie is always willing to step in and help wherever she is needed. She is approachable, supportive, and present for her staff. Whether it’s helping solve problems, supporting staff on the floor, or assisting with patient care, she leads by example.
She also steps in as hospital supervisor when needed, helping support the entire hospital and making sure everything continues to run safely and efficiently. Jackie encourages her staff to learn and grow. She supports education and helps build confidence in her teams. Because of her leadership, staff feel supported and work well together.
What stands out most about Jackie is her kindness and compassion. She treats everyone with respect and truly cares about both her patients and her staff. Jackie Andrews is a dedicated and dependable leader who makes a positive difference every day. She is very deserving of the DAISY Award.

I am writing to recognize Jackie Andrews for the exceptional care and compassion she provides every day. I have had the privilege of working with Jackie for many years, during which she has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, and dedication. In my experience, Jackie has gone far beyond what is expected. She ensures all staff and unit needs are met with skill and professionalism. She shows general kindness and empathy when staff is going thru difficult times. She listens, comforts, and is always willing to help her staff during times of uncertainty, stress, and emotions.
One moment that stands out to me was when I personally had a family crisis. I was working on the floor when I received a phone call at 2:30 am that my father was taken to the ER from a long-term facility by ambulance, and my stepmom needed a ride due to a recent foot injury that made her unable to drive. Jackie was here spending the night due to other obligations. She had been up all day, had to work the following day, and didn't get rest until after midnight. At 3:00 am, she was out on the floor taking over my assignment and telling me to go. After a little back and forth, telling her I could stay, she insisted that I go and be with my family. Jackie was selfless and put her team as a high priority. She did not complain that she was tired. She manages her team with care, compassion, and understanding. She is a fair leader and listens. She addresses issues and provides solutions.
Jackie consistently embodies the qualities of compassion, respect, and dedication that the Daisy represents. Her positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile truly set her apart. She is a strong leader and is always willing to help her staff.
I am grateful for her as a nurse manager and leader.

She goes above and beyond for each and every one, and she treats them all equally. She is available 24/7 when needed, even at home. She is caring, outgoing, and full of energy. If anybody is ever in need, she is your go-to person. I want to say thank you for being a great coworker to us!

Jackie is a true asset to our healthcare team. She is great at keeping us up-to-date and informed about changes happening within the hospital, which includes changes to policies and procedures, position shifts within the facility, and updating her staff with any other information she feels may be critical to providing optimal care for our patients.
Not only is Jackie great at keeping us informed, but she also provides an abundance of support for her staff. If ever I have a question or I am having an issue with the unit, I can rest assured that I can approach Jackie and speak honestly without fear of repercussion, that she will listen to and consider my input, and either give me guidance for the future, or assure me that she will handle the issue, and she does.
If Jackie is on the unit and sees that her staff is struggling, you can be assured the first thing out of her mouth will be "What can I do to help you?" and even though I know her plate is full, she is willing to be "hands-on" in an instant whenever she is needed. She does a great job making sure the unit runs smoothly, that staff concerns are addressed promptly and personally, and that patients and families are satisfied.
