I was traumatized by my ambulance ride, the ER, the emergency surgery, and horrific pain. Jackie comforted me and showed great compassion. I got teary because I now was going to miss a trip to a dear friend's memorial service and trip with a friend dying of cancer. She asked me if I wanted a hug. It was just what I needed. She let me cry until all the tears were gone. On my last night in the hospital, she stayed after her long 12-hour shift to tell me funny and heartwarming stories about her adopted puppy. She must have been exhausted and hungry. She could have just gone home. But she spent a lot of time with me. She lifted my spirits just when I needed it. Jackie was kind, compassionate, and giving of her own personal time. She lifted my spirits when I needed it the most. I will never forget her.
