She treated him with respect and knew precisely how to handle his rough personality and what he was going through at the end of his life.
My beloved dad was admitted to the ICU after experiencing a fall at home and a slight temperature. He was diagnosed with leukemia last year. After he was admitted that evening and tests were conducted, the family learned he had pneumonia and sepsis, and his body couldn’t fight it because of leukemia. He was placed under palliative care and passed early in the morning. Nurse Jackey was extremely helpful, caring, and compassionate with my dad during his time in the ICU. She treated him with respect and knew precisely how to handle his rough personality and what he was going through at the end of his life. She was very caring with our family and answered our questions during this unfortunate time. The family truly appreciates the entire ICU team and the care they provided our dad during his short time there. The ICU staff called my oldest sister when it became apparent that dad would not last, so that she could be there with him to the end. The staff allowed the immediate family to gather around Dad after he passed, say our goodbyes, and then honored him with the memory walk. It was all very touching, and we won’t forget this. Thank you for your care and compassion for my dad, especially Nurse Jackey!
