Our floor had a patient who scared other staff with some violent behavior. No one wanted to be alone with the patient. Jack took this challenge and sat with the patient ,analyzing and trying to figure out what would help this patient and the staff. He showed nothing but compassion towards the patient. He helped us overcome our fear of the patient’s aggression. Seeing his dedication and compassion in action made me want to be the kind of nurse that he is, no matter the situation. He showed us how to adapt to the situation, how to provide compassionate and individualized care, and showed us that anything is possible if we think critically to solve the problem.
