I have been working at HSS for the past 13 years. However, in the past 6 months, working with my manager Jack Davis has been an eye-opening experience for me. Jack fosters a trusting environment, where he encourages and empowers his staff to grow and constantly improve their skills. I consider Jack a role model as he mentors his staff to motivate and create positive outcomes. For example, he encourages all RNs to attend CAP service rounds to help build relationships with multidisciplinary teams. Jack gives me direction, drive and encouragement to reach a higher potential. My new role as a Patient Educator has included research education both for patients and nurses, teach back education and review, visiting patients pre and post-op, implementing new protocols, opioid tapering education and expanding our digital journey. He consistently promotes growth and development by allowing our team to share topics we find interesting and beneficial clinically. Jack is always available to listen with an open mind and does not hesitate to initiate action. His leadership style is exemplary as it enhances the image of nursing.
Jack is such a knowledgeable resource that is hardly tapped into. He knows an enormous amount about orthopedics and nursing. Becoming NAON President is a huge accomplishment, and Jack needs to be recognized for this. He has many bright ideas to bring to the table that breaks up the status quo. Jack's dedication to the nursing profession makes him a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
