As a patient, I was very confident in the level of care she provided me. Her level of compassion and empathy for me was the highest I have ever received from a nurse.
Ivory took really good care of me after I had a partial bowel obstruction. The recovery for this condition requires an IV and an NG tube. Ivory made me feel very special and as if I were her only patient. I have to assume her other patients felt the same. She ensured my NG tube was operating properly throughout the night, as it was struggling for some reason.

She was able to pull more out of my stomach than the day shift because she was so attentive. She checked my IV several times because she cared whether it hurt or was getting unsanitary. Ivory moved with confidence, and I felt she was extremely knowledgeable. She was also humble enough to refer to her charge nurse when she had a question.

As a patient, I was very confident in the level of care she provided me. Her level of compassion and empathy for me was the highest I have ever received from a nurse. Ivory handed me my meds one night, and I accidentally dropped one on the floor. She was honest with her charge nurse and asked her how she should proceed correctly. I assume there is a pretty tight inventory of medications. Ivory kept my room clean, always took the trash out, and just took a lot of pride in her trade.

I found out she only has about four months of experience at St. Mary's, and I was really surprised. I feel she has set the bar pretty high for all other nurses on that floor, and she is already setting a really good example and is a great role model for the other nurses to follow, no matter their level of experience. I have been in and out of hospitals quite a bit and over the years I have found that it is important that I pay attention to every detail and advocate for myself to ensure I received accurate and quality care. That was not the case with Ivory.

This makes such a big difference to my mental health while being in a hospital. She calmed my anxiety just by being herself. I didn't even tell her about having really bad anxiety about my care level. Her natural actions just made me very comfortable, and I knew that during her shift, I could just let go of everything and trust her to do the right thing.
