August 2026 Honoree
Isabel Hunter, BSN, RNC-EFM
I was cared for by Isabel during the birth of my son, and I cannot imagine going through that experience without her. From the moment she introduced herself, she was attentive, compassionate, and reassuring.
Throughout labor, she closely monitored both me and my baby, answered my questions, explained medical information in a way I could understand, and empowered me to make informed decisions. When my baby's heart rate began dropping during contractions, she acted quickly and remained calm, helping me stay calm as well.
One moment that stands out most was during my epidural. Since my support person had to leave the room, she stayed right by my side, holding my hand, talking me through each step, and making sure I never felt alone.
Later, when it became clear that I would need a C-section, she remained a comforting presence during one of the scariest moments of my life.
Her exceptional care continued after delivery when she was also assigned to us in postpartum. She helped us with feedings, allowed us opportunities to rest, and continued to provide the support and reassurance we needed as new parents.
My husband and I will always be grateful for her care. She made us feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for during one of the biggest moments of our lives. Her compassion, skill, and dedication truly embody what nursing is all about.
Thank you, Isabel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
