Her leadership has a truly positive impact on our unit. She supports her team, encourages growth, and consistently demonstrates the highest standards of patient care and professionalism.
Nomination #1
It is with great pride that I nominate Ilana Tuchman for the Daisy Nurse Leader Award. She holds staff meetings monthly to communicate with staff, and she lets us discuss any concerns with her directly. This open communication allows staff to have a voice with nursing leadership, so together we can address potential barriers to providing excellent patient care. She also provides professional growth opportunities for our team members and is always available to give advice and encouragement.
Nomination #2
It is my privilege to nominate Ilana Tuchman for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. I have known her since I joined Sinai many years ago, but more recently I have been fortunate enough to join her team and work directly under her leadership. Since becoming part of her team, I have consistently witnessed her exceptional leadership skills, positive attitude, and genuine dedication to both her staff and her patients.
She leads with compassion, professionalism, and a true “we can do it” spirit that motivates everyone around her. She creates an environment where teamwork, respect, and support are always present. In addition, while serving in a leadership role, she never hesitates to step in and help the team. There have been times when she has worked right alongside us on the floor, running charge while also carrying a patient assignment. Her willingness to lead by example and support the staff during busy or challenging shifts truly demonstrates her commitment to both patient care and her team.
Over the past several months, she has taken on multiple responsibilities, including managing payroll and scheduling. These are demanding tasks that require a great deal of time and attention, yet she continues to handle them with efficiency and professionalism. Despite her busy schedule and the many hats that she wears, she always makes time for her staff.
One of the things that stands out the most about her is her approachability. No matter how busy she is, she never makes anyone feel rushed or unimportant when they come to her office with questions or concerns. Her door is always open, and she takes the time to listen, provide guidance, and support her team. She fosters a workplace culture where staff feel valued, respected, and comfortable speaking up.
She also works closely with her A.N.M., and together they truly make a dream team. Their collaboration, mutual respect, and shared commitment to supporting the staff create a strong and positive leadership presence on our unit. They complement each other well and work tirelessly to ensure that both the team and our patients receive the best possible care.
Her leadership has a truly positive impact on our unit. She supports her team, encourages growth, and consistently demonstrates the highest standards of patient care and professionalism. I feel incredibly fortunate to work under her leadership, and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition than her.
Nomination #3
Ilana Tuchman was helpful in making sure my patient had a safe transition home. The patient wanted to sign out AMA, but she was a high fall risk who refused using any aid to help with her mobility, so this leader was called, and she worked her magic as she normally does. She listened to my patient and me. She collaborated with the patient, doctor, social worker, pharmacy, and the Manager of Rehab.
The patient was trained on using a walker safely with no assistance needed, and the social worker was able to get the patient a walker for home. In addition, she worked with the pharmacy to expedite getting her discharge medications prior to discharge that evening. The patient was very thankful that we took the time to help her with her discharge.
Thank you to this leader for using her resources and time to make sure this was a safe discharge home for my patient.
Nomination #4
She deserves to be very proud of her unit floor. They are awesome. The care that they provide for their patients is outstanding. I am so certain that it sped up my recovery.
