I am writing to enthusiastically commend Ian Siders. In less than a month, my life shifted dramatically from active and independent to facing a sudden heart disease diagnosis, accompanied by strict instructions to cease all physical activity until surgery. The speed of these events left my family and me completely stunned. Fortunately, the surgery took place within a few weeks and was highly successful.

Our profound anxiety was significantly alleviated when we arrived at the CVCC unit for my recovery and were blessed to have Ian as our nurse. Ian possesses an innate kindness and compassion that cannot be taught; it is an intrinsic part of who he is. Every shift began with his warm smile, which immediately brought a sense of comfort to my family and me. Beyond his exceptional bedside manner, Ian demonstrated outstanding clinical communication. He took the time to meticulously explain my surgical procedures and ongoing management plan, utilizing diagrams to ensure we fully understood.

Furthermore, his clear expectations regarding my medications–including how they worked and why they were prescribed–greatly put our minds at ease during a highly stressful time. Even as I progressed further along the path to recovery, Ian’s dedication never wavered. He continued to show a level of thoughtfulness and attentive care that far exceeds standard professional requirements; it is clearly a natural instinct for him. Faced with a life–altering medical situation that was frankly terrifying, Ian ensured that both my wife and I felt safe, informed, and cared for. We could not have received better care, and I believe he truly exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award. Thank you for considering this dedication to an exceptional healthcare professional.
