Hortencia Ramos, MS, RN-BC, PCCN

Hortencia is the CRN on our unit and has done so much for our team! Hortencia is a very knowledgeable RN. She is always going to different classes and council meetings and brings back the information she learns to our unit. As a new grad, I remember her being available for any question I had. When I changed my first Central line dressing she explained every detail carefully and gave me feedback. The same can be said for using the I-tape method with an NG tube. I still remember every detail!

Hortencia has also helped bridge the gap between RNs and providers. She advocates for us and makes sure our concerns are heard. For RNs who are interested in going up the clinical ladder, Hortencia is available to lay out the steps in order to get there. When it comes to skincare Hortencia is our unit’s champion. She rounds on our patients and ensures proper interventions are in place to prevent injuries. If an intervention has been missed Hortencia will gently provide education so our unit can do better. We love Hortencia!! 17 West would not be the same without her.
