Hope Rappuhn, BSN, RN
I would like to recognize Hope for the extraordinary care she provided during a very sensitive and uncertain time for our family.
Our situation with our son was complicated and emotional, and Hope made a profound difference in how we experienced those days. She was incredibly caring, patient, and compassionate. She truly listened to me and took the time to help prepare me for the next steps, explaining things in a way that made me feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
What meant the most was how she balanced honesty with hope. During a time when others on the team sometimes felt very negative, Hope helped me stay realistic while still holding onto hope. That balance was something our family needed more than words can express.
Hope also went above and beyond in her care. She brought me to the NICU multiple times in the middle of the night so I could see my son, and she never once made me feel like it was an inconvenience. She encouraged me and helped me with a pumping schedule, but never pressured me. Instead, she supported me in a way that respected both my physical and emotional limits.
A few days later, Hope happened to be on a NICU rotation, and she took the time to stop by and check on both me and our son. Seeing a familiar and caring face during such an uncertain time meant so much to us. That small act of kindness made us feel remembered and supported when we needed it most.
Hope's compassion, empathy, and dedication embody everything a nurse should be. She not only cared for my medical needs, but she also cared for me as a mother and as a person during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. I will always be grateful for the comfort and support she gave our family.
