I’m a first-time mom who came in at 41 weeks and attempted natural labor. Holly was outstanding at going above and beyond to help me throughout the process. From the beginning of her shift, she hit the ground running, instantly stepping into not only the bedside nurse role, but also a constant advocate, emotional support, and coach. While progressing to 9 cm, she did counter pressure, guided me through contractions, and gave tough love when needed. When I ended up getting an epidural at 9 cm, she not only coached me through sitting through the procedure, but let me hold onto her while my husband was out of the room. At one point, I felt I had upset the doctor by not being able to proceed, but Holly never left my side and coached me through different positions and pushing until it was time for the doctor to return.

All of this to say, I know Holly probably thinks “I’m just doing my job,” but I want her to know that her unwavering support and intentional bedside manner truly mean the world to patients like me. I may not have delivered my son how I originally planned, but it was Holly who got me as far as I did, and I will be forever grateful to her.
