September 2026 Honoree
Hillary Mulley, RN
It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend Hillary for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Hillary consistently exemplifies the qualities of leadership, innovation, and mentorship that make her an invaluable asset to our team and to the nursing profession as a whole.
Hillary has played a pivotal role in the successful navigation of our CURE MD implementation. She has been instrumental in identifying challenges, troubleshooting barriers, and ensuring a smoother transition for both staff and patients.
In addition, she has volunteered to pilot the Novell Health digital check-in and online scheduling system. Her willingness to be the first to test these processes, identify hiccups, and provide solutions has greatly benefited our workflow and has positioned our department for long-term success.
Beyond her contributions to process improvement, Hillary is deeply committed to supporting her colleagues. She has served as an exceptional mentor to my new nurse manager and has guided both of my new team members through their orientation with skill, patience, and encouragement.
Hillary’s approachable nature allows others to feel comfortable seeking her guidance, and her steady presence provides reassurance during times of change and adjustment.
Hillary embodies the spirit of a true nurse leader—someone who not only embraces innovation but also lifts up others along the way. Her dedication to both her patients and her colleagues makes her a most deserving recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.

Hillary has been a champion for CureMD since we started it. She is always willing to try things, dig in and be first, and help her team and others across the state to learn how to use the system.
Hillary is willing to be the first to trial a new system and work through the process of adjustment with the Regional Supervisors. In this way, she is modeling great leadership and courage for the rest of her staff and her peers.
Hillary's take-charge style and willingness to learn are very much appreciated, as these things help us improve the CureMD system for all.

Hillary is willing to meet needs and help other nurses at the drop of a hat. She studies policies and procedures and provides to those in need with a depth of knowledge and understanding that is hard to rival.
She keeps an understanding, level head, seeks others' thoughts and ideas to ensure that she comes to the best possible outcome for her folks and those that we are entrusted to care for. She exhibits the natural caring quality of nurses in her leadership role that keeps the organization moving forward.
She is a mentor, a helper, and a guiding hand for those around her. She is an extraordinary nurse leader deserving of DAISY Nurse Leader Honoree.
Hillary is a trusted cohort who offers help without judgment at almost any time. She is forthright with her answers, unjudgmental, and offers advice that is both above reproach and fact-based as well.
I do not know anyone I work with who is more well-versed in our policies, procedures, or expected behavior. She calls on her significant experience and knowledge to meet each need, and does so with grace and understanding.
Hillary answers questions either via email, Google Meet, or chat at the drop of a hat. If she can not meet, she offers a time to meet, which is rarely needed. I have found her answering questions when she is off, and when she is performing other tasks. She never brings judgment and always answers with a happy heart.
Hillary is well-versed in the ACIP guidelines and nursing judgment calls. If I have questions relating to anything work-related, she is my first call, and usually my last one. She does so with superb clinical reasoning, and offers answers that keeps myself thinking critically.
Hillary is willing to bring into question thoughts and ideas when others are scared to ask those same questions. She is an understanding voice when frustration is aired, and offers a solution when one is needed, but a listening ear when that is what is warranted.
Hillary is a go-to amongst our region when it comes to difficult questions when our nursing leadership is not available or present. She is a guide to us and answers the call when we have a problem. She is quick to support and knows whom to call when the answer is someone else's area of expertise or authority.
She has listened to my woes on more than one occasion and offered a helping hand for clinics and teaching on several occasions.
She knows the policies and procedures and can point you to where you need to look if you need to reference them. She has offered to relieve me and help out my office more times than I can count, and is more than willing to help when the call is made.
Hillary shows up to our region calls and offers her guidance and helps us become better nurses and managers. She is often a guiding light for myself and others and a cool head when it is needed. She is committed to public health and its goals, and is a wealth of resources for those looking to expand their programs.
Hillary brings professionalism and competence to public health, knows the right way to do things, and pushes our image to a more professional stance in the eyes of other nurses and the public. This is evident in her success as a manager and a mentor.
