After her visit, the patient called me thanking me and saying that Herlande came in like Mary Poppins and just made everything all better.
This patient was very unhappy and was ready to cancel services. The patient was just discharged from a traumatic hospital stay, she was intubated on a ventilator and her family didn’t think she would survive. A few minutes of listening and she calmed down. I then asked her to allow me another chance to find a nurse who will meet her needs. The patient agreed and I sent Herlande to visit her. After her visit, the patient called me thanking me and saying that Herlande came in like Mary Poppins and just made everything all better. A few weeks later this same patient called me again and said due to Herlande delivering competent and compassionate care that she saved her from going back to the hospital. Herlande had taken notice that her wound was not looking good and called her surgeon. She made several calls to get the surgeon on the phone and her persistence paid off. The patient had an infection and she was lucky it was caught that soon. This patient is still on service and is very happy with her care. The patient said that her family’s life has changed for the better because of Herlande.
