September 2026 Honoree
Hedyieh Haider, RN
Hedyieh Haider was ncredible! My friend had an emergency while traveling through Montana and ended up in your ICU. Since she was so far away, most of her friends and family were unable to visit in person. However, she had a rotation of friends/family come to visit. I say this because the patient's mother, an APRN, can be a lot, but all of the nurses took her in stride.
Hedyieh was super patient, and while I know the patient was not super critical, they made the time to explain, teach, and listen to both my friend and her mother/family. I cannot even begin to tell you how much that meant to both my friend and her mother; the fact that she slowed down and took extra time to be with us, including bringing coffee to her mother. While that is a small gesture, it meant the world to her.
She made a tremendous difference during an incredibly stressful time. I appreciated the effort she put into cleaning up and organizing the patient's room (one of my huge pet peeves). She took out the linen hamper, the trash bins at the end of the day, and updated the whiteboard- all things that most people do not notice or care about. To me, however, it shows how much pride you have in your profession, your personal practice, and the organization you work in.
I spent 13 years working at the bedside of a hospital, so I am familiar with difficult families and nurses. Hedyieh was super polite even when we (nurses in the family) may have overstepped our boundaries when caring for our friend/daughter. It is hard for nurses to sit on our hands when our family is in that bed.
Hedyieh's compassion, patience, and dedication exemplify the absolute best of nursing. I would also like to extend my gratitude to every nurse who cared for my beautiful friend. She has now been home for a couple of weeks, is doing very well, and is expected to make a full recovery.
Thank you for sharing such wonderful caregivers with us. Their impact on our family and friends will not be forgotten.
