I have witnessed firsthand how homeless and dying patients trust him implicitly. He makes it a point to visit them, ensuring that no veteran dies alone.
I am honored to nominate Hector Granados for the DAISY Award, a recognition that truly embodies the spirit of compassionate nursing. Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Hector, primarily through our interactions on Teams. However, my most memorable experience with him was when I met him in person while volunteering at the flu clinic.

On that day, a truck pulled up, and the driver greeted me by name, asking if I was the hospice nurse. When he introduced himself as Hector, I was struck by his dedication. He was accompanied by a veteran who needed to be vaccinated, and Hector went above and beyond by requesting a day off and using his personal annual leave to ensure this veteran received the care he deserved. His commitment to patient well-being was evident as he prioritized this individual's needs over his own time.

Hector's actions exemplify what it means to truly care for others. I have witnessed firsthand how homeless and dying patients trust him implicitly. He makes it a point to visit them, ensuring that no veteran dies alone. His compassion and dedication to those he serves are evident in every interaction. Hector works tirelessly, often behind the scenes, and he does so with great joy, never seeking recognition for his efforts. For these reasons, I believe Hector Granados is an exemplary candidate for the DAISY Award. His selfless service, unwavering commitment, and heartfelt compassion for his patients make him a deserving honoree. It is a privilege to celebrate someone who so profoundly impacts the lives of those around him.
