I was admitted to Memorial on February 21st. My status declined over night so I was then transferred to 7C the morning of the 22nd. At that time, I was by myself, scared, and worried. Heather was the RN who admitted me that day. She comforted me and reassured me that she would take good care of me. Well Heather proved her word to be true – and then some.

Heather would always come in the room with a smile on her face and a cheerful attitude. She always seemed to be one step ahead of my needs. Before I could ask, Heather was already on her way into my room with whatever I needed at that time. I felt comfortable knowing that she was taking care of me.
A lot of the possible diagnoses and reasons for my illness were difficult to understand and piece together. Heather made sure to explain to me and my family why tests were done, what results were, and answered any other questions that came to mind. My parents are thankful to her for taking the extra time to make sure that they understood exactly what was going on. I smiled as my dad literally told every visitor that entered or called my room about what a great nurse Heather was. When she returned after being off for a day, my Dad saw that she was my nurse and began clapping and said “Woo Hoo, she’s back.” I of course was happy too!

I am currently a student in nursing school and see Heather as a role model for any student or RN. I just hope that when I graduate, I can be as wonderful a nurse as Heather is.
