was admitted through the Emergency Department and placed in a room. In the Progressive Care unit. I received outstanding care from all members of the ED staff during the morning and from the PCU later in the afternoon (Nurse Alexandria), the evening (Nurse Theresa), and the next day (Nurse Heather). This letter is to nominate Heather for the DAISY award due to the exemplary care I received from her.

The next day, I experienced firsthand Heather’s remarkable passion for nursing. Her care made a significant difference in my stay in the Progressive Care Unit. Heather’s actions that day reflected her dedication and sincere concern for her patients.

Throughout the day, health consistently demonstrated the qualities that make her an outstanding nurse. Her attentive and empathetic bedside manner helped ensure my comfort and well-being. Her genuine sense of humor made my hospital stay less stressful and much more pleasant.

Heather’s active listening skills ensured that my concerns were heard and addressed in a timely manner. She was patient with my questions and always treated me with respect and kindness. She showed sincere interest in making certain that I received everything I needed, whether it was information, medication, drinks, or simply a warm blanket.

Despite receiving frequent telephone calls from other patients while I was in my room, I never felt neglected. I was impressed by the way she managed the many demands from her other patients. Each time she answered their phone calls, Heather spoke with compassion and empathy, regardless of their requests-whether it was a medical need or something as simple as a turkey sandwich. Her dedication to providing outstanding care was obvious!

Additionally, she demonstrated excellent time management skills throughout the day. She was able to efficiently attend to my needs and those of her other patients in a timely manner. Heather kept me updated on when she would return to my room and when I could expect visits from the other health care professionals. I always knew what to expect and never felt forgotten or neglected.

Heather's interactions with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, impressed me. Her communication was always professional and respectful. It was obvious from observing her throughout the day that Heather strived to be a team player and maintain positive relationships with her colleagues.

Heather was also a great advocate for me. She took the initiative to reach out to the physicians on my behalf so that my questions regarding medications or treatments were addressed promptly. Heather was very aware of my intense desire to be discharged that evening, and she played a key role in facilitating the discharge process efficiently and in a timely manner. I was happily released before 7 pm!

Upon my discharge, Heather demonstrated her caring nature by personally accompanying me to the parking lot. Before I left, she gave me a heartfelt hug. It was clear that she truly cared about me!

I believe that Heather found her calling and is deeply committed to delivering the highest standard of patient care. I am grateful for the outstanding care I received from Nurse Heather. When I asked her if she had ever received the DAISY Award, she told me she had not. That moment prompted me to nominate her, as I truly feel she deserves to be acknowledged.

Heather’s commitment to providing outstanding patient care exemplifies the qualities celebrated by the DAISY Award.

Thank you, Heather, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
