Heather Jocoy from float pool. She was amazing today and struck up a conversation with me in the hallway. When she learned that friends were coming up for a visit of a friend, Heather asked if she could join in on the fun. She gathered associates from the floor to also join in on the fun! A friend who messaged the patient this morning asked if she could bring her anything, and the patient responded, a Mariachi band. The friend brought sombreros and played music on her phone as we all walked into the room. Associates joined in on the fun by clapping to the music and banging on buckets. It was truly a much-needed uplifting moment for the patient!

Heather had also shared with me in our conversation that she remembered caring for this patient last year. Last year is when her battle with cancer began and it has been a very long and exhausting journey for her with a battle she is continuing to fight each day! Today was truly a moment of joy for this patient to see a room full of people bringing laughter to her. I am so thankful Heather cared enough to strike up a conversation in the hallway, which led to the joining of a makeshift mariachi band to help bring laughter to all who entered the room at that time!
