Heather Grennille goes above and beyond for her patients daily, but on this day, she moved mountains for her patient. Heather received a patient from the ED who was coming in sick as well as having a lot going on emotionally. The patient arrived at the floor with multiple family members, and the story unfolded that he had been visiting his wife, who is currently on 1 Hussey.

The patient’s family explained that his wife was dying and that the patient had been with his wife for 51 years, and that this was extremely hard on him, and that they thought it was stress-related. Heather’s patient ended up being stroke positive, and the family was concerned that he wouldn’t be able to see his wife.

Heather worked to find a way to move him to be able to be in the same room as his wife so that he could spend what time she had left together. Heather worked with all the resources she could find, including reaching out to the managers to be able to provide the most excellent care for her patient, both medically and emotionally. She made a connection with him and worked to make sure that all his needs were met while taking care of an additional 5 patients.

Heather is a diligent nurse who takes the care of her patients seriously every time she steps foot on the floor. She deserves this DAISY for being an outstanding nurse.
