Haylee took the absolute best care of a dear friend in her final hours in the ICU. She did everything possible to keep her as comfortable as possible. She informed the family of every med she was giving and why. She included the family in all decisions regarding her care and attended to anything they needed.

She allowed friends to come and say their final goodbyes and allowed us to be with and support her family. She stayed past her shift to continue to care for my friend, as she knew she was making her way to Heaven.

She provided excellent care until the very end during one of the most difficult times for my friend and her family. She is everything a great nurse and care provider can be, and I could never thank her enough for all the empathy and heart she showed during this very difficult time.

Haylee took care of our friend who was in the ICU where she passed away from breast cancer. Haylee was so supportive of our friend's wants and needs. Haylee was kindhearted and caring. She deserves this award not only because she was doing an amazing job but the emotion she put in her patient.

---

Wow, where do I even start? We were lucky enough to have Haylee as our friend's nurse for what we didn't know were the last two days of her young life. My friend was 35 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer and had metastasis to her lungs. She was transferred to the ICU, and her breathing was getting worse. She was dependent on the BiPAP. Her family and friends were called to be with her.

As a former ICU Mosaic nurse, I entered the ICU as a family friend this time and my heart glowed after seeing that Haylee was my friend's nurse as I used to work with her and it provided unmeasurable comfort knowing that she was in the best hands possible.

Haylee was the gentlest, most compassionate, most understanding person I've ever met. At one point, I think there were close to 15 people in the room at any given time, and she didn't even bat an eye. She talked to my friend as an individual and mom and didn't talk at her or over her like a sick patient in a bed. She was in our room every minute and anticipated our and my friend's needs.

My friend has three children under the age of 18, and this nurse supported them and advocated for them the entire time as well. She organized a baptism for her because she knew that's what she wanted. She called the doctor numerous times to advocate for her as she was not comfortable and in pain. She didn't stop.

On her second shift with my friend, she was transitioned to comfort measures. She stayed multiple hours after her shift because she knew end of life was near and she wanted to be there for her and her family and friends. She did this because she wanted to, not because she had to. She even said, "I'm about to pull a 24-hour shift if I have to; I'm not leaving her."

She was so compassionate with our dear friend, and we will never forget her. You don't teach love and compassion like this in a nursing textbook. I truly feel she was an Angel sent from God to be with my friend during this tough time.

She came to the funeral and continued to support my friend and her friends and family, again, by choice, on her day off.

Thank you, Haylee, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
