Hannah patiently listened. She gave a hug when the emotional roller coaster was too much to bear any longer.
Hannah is no doubt a gift from God to not just my mom who was her patient, but also to our entire family. My mom was in the hospital for 14 days. Most of those days Hannah was her nurse. There are no words to adequately describe what a gift Hannah was. She was incredibly knowledgeable, taking the time to explain exactly what medicine she was administering or what task she was doing to care for Mom. Hannah patiently listened. She gave a hug when the emotional roller coaster was too much to bear any longer. Hannah went out of her way to attend to Mom’s comfort, especially while mom was in a coma and on a vent after having two surgeries within 48 hours (because of volvulus and sepsis). Hannah protected our hearts when the fear of it for Mom was too much. Hannah treated Mom with dignity and utmost respect even when Mom was in a coma. She took the time to personally learn about Mom, how her body works, and what our family concerns were and treated Mom accordingly. The worse few days of this whole experience were ironically the days when Hannah was not on duty. As traumatic as this whole experience was for Mom and our whole family, every morning when I went to the hospital to spend the day with Mom, I found comfort and peace knowing that she would be there to help us through another day. I’ll never be able to repay Hannah for her kindness and care. I have no doubt in my mind that God used Hannah to help preserve Mom’s life, and I’ll forever be indebted to her.
