Hannah Miller, BSN, RN

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside her for the past few years on 8 South, and she has consistently demonstrated what it means to be an exceptional nurse. Hannah advocates strongly for her patients, provides compassionate care, and truly has a heart of gold—but recently was especially remarkable.

Recently, I selected Hannah to participate in a patient experience round. These rounds are typically conducted by nurse leaders to assess how effectively nurses are building personal connections with patients, ensuring patients understand their plan of care, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. Hannah performed this round almost flawlessly, even while being observed by our new director. Her ability to remain composed, attentive, and patient-focused under observation was impressive.

I have rounded on Hannah and her patients many times, and she consistently excels in every aspect of care. She is a strong role model for her peers. While she may occasionally feel nervous during evaluation, it never detracts from the high-quality care she delivers.

Later in the day, Dr. Vence personally called to share how outstanding Hannah is—not just recently, but consistently. She described Hannah as a strong communicator who proactively keeps providers informed and continuously advocates for her patients.

Hannah prioritizes patient safety, often double- and triple-checking when something is unfamiliar or requires added attention, demonstrating both humility and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Overall, Hannah is an exceptional nurse who is deeply respected by both her teammates and her patients. She is always willing to help others, speaks up when needed, and consistently goes above and beyond. Her dedication is evident through the recognition she receives during patient rounds as well as through positive discharge feedback.

Hannah truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award. Kudos to you, Hannah—keep up the outstanding work!
