In moments of grief, fear, and uncertainty, Hannah is often the one creating heartfelt and memorable keepsakes for families, helping them find meaning and comfort in the hardest situations.
I am honored to nominate Hannah for the DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary commitment to patient-centered care, advocacy, and the human spirit of nursing.

Hannah consistently demonstrates the highest standards of nursing practice. She is a tireless advocate for her patients and families, ensuring that their voices are heard, their needs are met, and their dignity is preserved—especially during the most vulnerable moments of their lives. She is also always willing to assume care for our LifeShare patients, embracing these complex and emotionally demanding cases with compassion, professionalism, and deep respect for both donors and their families.

One powerful example of her heart for patients was shown when she cared for a young patient with autism who was deeply fascinated by a pair of pink shoes he had seen Hannah wearing. Recognizing how meaningful this was to him, Hannah took it upon herself to purchase a pair of pink shoes and, at his request, mailed them to his grandmother’s home so he could have something special to hold onto. This thoughtful act brought joy, comfort, and a sense of connection that extended far beyond his hospital stay. It perfectly reflects who she is—not only as a nurse, but as a human being.

In moments of grief, fear, and uncertainty, Hannah is often the one creating heartfelt and memorable keepsakes for families, helping them find meaning and comfort in the hardest situations. These gestures are not part of any job description, yet they leave a lasting imprint on the families she serves.

As a charge nurse, preceptor, and leader on the unit, Hannah sets the standard for excellence. She models clinical excellence and unwavering integrity while inspiring others to practice with compassion, empathy, and humanism. Her influence elevates not only the quality of care but also the culture of the entire team. Hannah has not only taken amazing care of our patients, but she has also taken care of our team in moments of loss. When we lost one of our own, Hannah brought a framed picture and left it on the unit with cards she made that the teammates could use to write a note to our fellow nurse, mentor, and friend.

Hannah embodies everything the DAISY Award represents. Her kindness, advocacy, and dedication make an immeasurable difference in the lives of patients, families, and colleagues alike.
