She has great nursing instincts and will often act where others may ponder what to do.
Hannah was working in the pediatric hematology/oncology department when she noticed a small change in her patient. The telemetry monitor displayed an unusual rhythm, so she went to investigate. Hannah was very concerned about her patients' demeanor since admission and escalated her concerns to the pediatric resident and attending physicians. While the resident consulted with the cardiologist, the patient continued to decline. Hannah decided to call a Rapid Response based on her gut instinct that something was seriously wrong with the patient. The patient was emergently transferred to the PICU for more intensive care and monitoring. Eventually, the patient had to be transferred to another facility for a higher level of care, which required some lifesaving interventions. Hannah's actions that night may have saved this child's life. She is one of the strongest patient advocates I have ever worked with. She has great nursing instincts and will often act where others may ponder what to do. She should be recognized for her quick actions and consistent patient advocacy. Hannah is an asset in the pediatric unit. We are so lucky to work with her. I know our patients will be well cared for when I am in charge, and she is working in hem/onc.
