My husband was brought to the ICU in Gainesville from Hiawassee. I couldn't be there that night. Hannah worked the 7pm-7am shift. All my husband talked about was how he would have never gotten through that night without Hannah. He was so sick from chemo, pneumonia, and congestive heart failure. He was scared and alone. This was especially true when they were putting a port in his neck. They were having trouble getting it done, and he was literally in tears. Hannah got right down next to his ear and told him he wasn't alone; she was there. She said, "I got you, buddy, we'll get through this together." I can't begin to list everything she did for him, but every night I wasn't there, Hannah took care of my husband. She advocated for him, made sure he wasn't disturbed when he needed sleep, and she sat and talked with him when he couldn't sleep out of fear of not waking up. I never had the honor of meeting Hannah, but I will forever be grateful for the care she gave my husband. One last note: I had my husband read this before sending it, and he just sat and cried, saying he would have never gotten through it without Hannah. She is so deserving of this award. An amazing woman indeed!
