Hanen Sassi, RN
Hanen Sassi went above and beyond when caring for me. I have struggled with my mental health since I had my 2-year-old. Today was especially rough as more stressors piled onto my already full plate. I decided to walk the halls, and I met my day nurse, Hanen. She emanated this energy of “I care about you” and it made me feel safe with her to tell her what was going.
My family before brushed me off, but Hanen cared. She helped me get set up with psychiatry and continued to check on me throughout the day. This woman sat with me, listened, and gave me a hug I'll never forget. Truly, Hanen saved me from my dark, drowning thoughts and made me feel safe here. Hanen handled the stress of her day beautifully and gave me support that no one has in two to three years. Hanen deserves another DAISY Award and so much more. She truly is an amazing nurse, and Penn State is lucky to have her. Hanen and E are both fantastic human beings. I hope whoever reads this feels that Hanen did above and beyond, as I did. She is a gem.
