I want to acknowledge Haley and the excellent care she provided to one of our hospice patients. This patient was brought in for symptom management. She worked diligently for hours attempting to get the patient comfortable as well as make sure the family understood everything that was happening. She ensured that the patients' and families' wishes were being honored. After the patient passed during our shift, she was so sweet and supportive to this large, heartbroken family. What truly sets her apart is how she went above and beyond to ease this family's sorrow. She has the monitor room send her the last strip with her heartbeats registered. She washed out an old albumin glass bottle and placed the strip in it. She found some red construction paper and printed a label for it that read " My heart is always with you" and gave it to her daughter. The family was so touched. It's the little things like this that make her so deserving of a DAISY Award.
