I believe Hailie was handpicked by God to serve my dad that weekend.
My dad was an inpatient for two weeks. The first time I met Hailie, she came in to adjust my dad’s NG tube. Hailie was then assigned to care for my dad that weekend. On that Friday afternoon, we were given news of his poor prognosis. This was one of the worst moments of our lives.
I believe Hailie was handpicked by God to serve my dad that weekend. Our entire family quickly picked up on her compassion and respect for my dad. She is confident in her skills and has the best bedside manner. As a daughter, I appreciated her attentiveness and treating my dad like a human being. When I asked to take him outside, she did not hesitate. She said, "Absolutely. Just let me know when he wants to go." She made sure his pain was managed and then took him out.
I personally know as a nurse that the unit can be short-staffed, you can have difficult assignments, you get busy with tasks, and feel like the hours are never-ending. Hailie never let any of that surface. She made sure my dad’s needs were met and that he was a priority. I can’t thank her enough for the care she provided. We will forever be grateful.
