Nurse Hailey was my advocate when I truly desperately needed one.
After delivering my son, I was hemorrhaging, but no one noticed until I was transferred to the recovery room.
Nurse Hailey was helping me breastfeed my son when all of a sudden, I started to lose consciousness. She immediately hands my son over to my husband and presses down on my stomach, there's so much blood it basically covered the entire bed. She calls the triage team and in a matter of seconds there's over 10 people in the room.
On what was suppose to be the most special day of my life I was mentally preparing myself to say my final goodbye to my newborn son and husband, luckily nurse Hailey was there and knew exactly what to do and what to order.
I can clearly remember her instructing the OB on what to give me, what test to run, all while the OB was standing at my feet, seeming completely frozen, not knowing what to do. Even though I was clearly dying on that bed that night, coming in and out of consciousness, I remember nurse Hailey being my superhero.
She told the OB that I needed a certain medication, and I remember the OB saying, "What is that? Why would I give that?"
Nurse Hailey was my advocate when I truly desperately needed one.
After over 25 needle sticks trying to find a vein and multiple blood transfusions, I believe she saved me that night. In my head I had said my goodbyes to everyone that night and asked god to take me because I was in so much pain but I'm here today planning my son's second birthday.
It was a scary night, and I'm so happy she was there for that moment and for taking care of me every minute after that night. She is truly an angel sent from heaven.
