I came into the emergency department to receive a blood transfusion, and Hailey was my nurse. Several years ago, I had a very bad experience with an IV at another hospital, so I was incredibly anxious about getting the IV in for my transfusion. Hailey made time to listen to my story about my bad experience, and she accommodated me in many ways throughout my time in the ER: she validated my anxious feelings, she explained how long I would have the IV in, she checked in later and offered to move the IV to a different spot if I needed, and she went over what would happen with the IV & how we would keep me comfortable in case I was admitted to the hospital. Her actions made me feel seen and cared for from a mental health perspective. I am so grateful.
