I truly believe this moment positively changed everything. Healing is not only physical.
My son and his best friend were brought to Boston Medical Center earlier this month after sustaining life-threatening injuries from a motorcycle/car accident. Both young men were working in the Boston area, 700 miles from home and any family.
After the accident, each repeatedly asked to see the other, but neither was stable enough to do so. My son and his best friend eventually spoke over the phone, but one compassionate nurse went out of her way to coordinate the first in-person hospital visit. Haley Covillion, one of my son's nurses, went above and beyond to get clearance from all necessary parties so that the two best friends could see each other face to face.
As insignificant as it might seem, I truly believe this moment positively changed everything. Healing is not only physical. Fears were eased, and hope was restored that day.
Thank you, Haley. You are a skilled nurse, an empathetic young woman, and an asset to Boston Medical Center.
