I am writing to acknowledge the entire 8th floor Oncology Nursing Team at the UMMC Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center for their amazing care, kindness, and support. My husband had acute Myeloid Leukemia and spent the last few weeks of his life at the hospital being treated for complications from the disease. The quality, knowledge, kindness, and compassion of the 8th floor team far exceeded any experience we had encountered throughout his illness. The nurses were unbelievably skilled, helpful, and kind. We were confident in their care and comforted by their kindness.

I was admitted for several days to 8 West and each and every nurse and the PCT provided excellent care to me. They were all very empathetic and believe me as an RN myself for 38 years these people are simply one of the best groups of nurses I have ever met. May God bless them all.

This has been my 4th time in this unit and every time the nurses here have made my stay one that can only be described by one word – family. Their dedication to caring, their sense of humor, their knowledge of the job and safety procedures, and their willingness to help and explain things can only come from having a job they truly enjoy. My 1st month, not knowing how I would make out, they helped me feel at ease and kept my spirit positive. I cannot imagine going through this process at any other hospital with any other nursing staff!
