Midland Health has named Grace Partlow, education coordinator for the Emergency Department, as the recipient of its 2025 DAISY Nurse Leader Award. A lifelong Midlander and graduate of Midland High School, Partlow’s leadership, mentorship and compassion have made her a valuable team member in emergency care.

Partlow began her nursing career at Odessa College, earning an associate degree in nursing in 2016. She later completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University.

Hired directly into Midland Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department after graduation, Partlow has served in multiple roles, including preceptor, clinical coder, chart auditor and charge nurse. She now leads as the department’s education coordinator within the Center for Advancing Professional Excellence.

Over nearly a decade at Midland Health, Partlow has become known for her dedication to mentorship and professional growth. She said she finds great fulfillment in guiding new nurses through their early years, reflecting the support she once received herself.

Partlow is a Certified Emergency Nurse and one of six Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) at Midland Memorial Hospital; these certifications that underscore her expertise and commitment to patient care.

This year, Partlow received two separate nominations for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, a national honor recognizing nurses who demonstrate exceptional clinical skill, empathy and professionalism.

Dana Taylor, director of emergency services for Midland Health, praised Partlow’s enthusiasm and innovation in her nomination.

“Grace pours herself into everything she does,” Taylor wrote. “She transformed our residency networking day into a true festival, brought new life to our Education Expo, and ensures every staff member feels appreciated. Even when caring for her sick child, she came in to teach a splint class because she didn’t want the team to miss out. Her dedication and heart inspire everyone around her.”

A second nomination, submitted by the Emergency Department nurse manager, Daniela Perez, echoed those sentiments.

“Grace’s leadership is defined by compassion and collaboration,” the nomination read. “She celebrates staff, fosters a culture of learning and leads by example. As my first preceptor, I learned what it truly means to lead with empathy and purpose. Grace continues to elevate our department and inspire everyone she mentors.”

At Midland Health, more than 165 nurses have been recognized with the DAISY Award, which honors those who embody the organization’s mission, vision and values. Partlow’s recognition adds another chapter to that legacy.

When she’s not teaching or mentoring, Partlow enjoys spending time with her husband, Jorden, their two sons, and the family’s Goldendoodles, Goldie and Queso.

Her story serves as a reminder that health care is about more than medicine — it’s about people like Grace Partlow, whose dedication and compassion bring hope and healing to West Texas every day.
